FEAR 101: Some Americans Still Slaves to "Post 9/11 Trauma" Ideology, Others to Indifference:
Too many things changed after 9/11 and much was not for the better.
Americans, at first in a state of shock and awe, then resigned
themselves to a state of higher "national security" in exchange for many
of their freedoms and liberties. Today, many still find themselves
huddled in tragic fear and isolation still convinced that the
"terrorists" are solely foreign Islamic fundamentalists. What was once a
nation of real strength and community has withered to one of sloth
indifference and cocooned larvae. To be outspoken and the slightest bit
different, unconventional, and offbeat from this now antiquated chalky
norm, is felt as a threat by many still stuck in their post 9/11 "comfy
place" prisons.
CASE AND POINT #1:
OVER PROTECTIVE NATION OF SCARED SISSIES ON PROZAC - "FREE RANGE KIDS"
DETAINED BY POLICE FOR WALKING TO SCHOOL. Parents charged with child
neglect. Remember when we were all "free range" kids walking or biking
to school? Sure, as with anything, there is always a risk of harm to
children, but the benefits far outweigh the risks. Japan's communities
(as well as other countries) remain close knit and together in having
kids walk or bike to school for better physical and mental health
instead of feeding them pills. WHY HAVEN'T WE?
